Rainforest Facial Peels

About alpha and beta hydroxy skin peels?

The skin peels offered at Poppyfields are mainly fruit acids such as malic, lactic, glycolic, citric acids these are known as alpha hydroxy acids. We also use salycilic acid which is a beta hydroxy acid and is derived from willow bark. These acids come in a variety of strength and combinations, the correct treatment for your skin would be advised after a skin consultation.

How these peels work.

These peels are non invasive, skin resurfacing treatments. The beauty being fast results with no side effects.

When the aha/bha's are applied to your skin - the lipid bonds which hold the skin cells together are gently disolved. The epidermis (outer layer) is 5 layers deep, these peels gently work into the 3rd layer known as the granulosum. 

The advantage of only working into the 3rd layer in one treatment is there's no downtime or physical peeling, also less risk of inflammation and adverse sensitivity, you must protect your skin and wear an SPF for 7 days after treatment,and a hat would be advisable if in a hot climate.

The aftercare is no heat treatments including steam,sauna etc for 7 days, no swimming for 24 hours, no depilatorie creams for 7 days, retinol for 7 days or any exfoliation for 7 days after treatment.

If you have a course of these rainforest peels (generally 6,one per week) you will have the same effect as a Trichloroacetic peel, but without the side effects and aftercare. In order to work up to the strongest peel it's always safest to work with either one of the first three peels depending on skin sensitivity, condition and type.

A  (TCA) Trichloroacetic peel is where the peel works through all 5 layers of the epidermis in one treatment, and then peels off over the next 4-7 days.

Phenol peels are administered by Dr's and surgeons only. 

Papaya Purifying peel – enzymatic

Ideal for: all skin types, a gentle peel, including those that are more sensitive and is ideal for eczema and dermatitis sufferers.

Rainforest Banana peel

Description:  A mild peel for all skin and conditions, a great starting point for those new to peels.

Ideal for:  Impaction, congestion, blemishes, blackheads, dull, dry, dehydrated and ageing conditions. Effective for pre extraction, pre peel and post microdermabrasion..

Rainforest Radiance peel

Suitable for oily, acne, dull dehydrated skins. Can be used on sensitive skins too.
